Imphal, Manipur, December 17 (HBTV): The Manipur police on Monday arrested eight cadres of the proscribed militant outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) from Kakching district, following large-scale operations in the aftermath of killing of two migrant laborers from Bihar. The police seized arms and ammunitions from their possession too, a police statement on Tuesday informed.
"Following the killing of two non-locals at Keirak by unknown armed miscreants on Saturday evening, operations were conducted on a large scale at various suspected area. During one such operation, on Monday, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the KCP (PWG), 48-year-old Irengbam Rameshwar Singh from Kakching Lamkhai area in Kakching District.
Police said ‘From his disclosure, police team searched a camp located at the Kakching Mamang Ching Laipham Loknung area and arrested seven cadres of KCP (PWG) on the spot.’
The militants have been identified as one Elangabm Herojit Singh (40), a Heikrujam Prem (28), one Okram Arundatta (30), a Senjam Rebingson (27), an Okram Amarjit (31), one Aribam Ghanendrajit Sharma (25), and a Chongtham Rajkumar (26).
In another unrelated operation on Monday, police arrested two cadres of KCP (PWG) at Kakching Ching Kakpham area identified as one Lisham Premananda Meitei alias Poirei (45) and a James Ningthoujam (44).
The arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to the police for further necessary actions, the police statement added.
